Dormitory Construction Project
Build a two-story student dormitory for Pojiao primary school, 4.26 by 21.336 Meters, 182 square meters in total. The dormitory will be constructed of light weight steel frame, well insulated, quake resistant, with reinforced fiber cement board inside and out and painted with stucco. There will be a complete bathroom and two dorm halls, and 2 bedrooms for adult monitors, one on each floor.

Project Objective: To offer a safe dry and warm place for students to sleep, raise public support and attract more donations for Pojiao primary school to purchase teaching equipments.
学生宿舍建设项目
为坡脚片区小学建造一栋两层楼的学生宿舍,4*21米,面积一共182平方米。宿舍将采用轻型钢结构,隔热良好,抗震能力强,里外都采用加强纤维板,涂上灰泥漆。 有个完整的卫生间,两间卧室区,还在每层都有个舍监室。

Brief Introduction
Pojiao Primary School is located in a small town in the northwest of Hunan province, where most residents are Tujia or Miao minorities. The mountains surrounding the town has limited its connection to the outside world, and the lack of rich farming land stands in the way of its economic development. Most adults are working in remote provinces and only coming back home once a year, their kids have to live with their grandparents.
Pojiao Primary School has one class for each grade, from preschool to six grade; 13 teachers including one head teacher and four substitute teachers. There’re currently 302 students and the number is shrinking as several students have moved to the city along with their parents. The school facility is from the 80s and now in pretty bad shape, roofs are leaking and walls decaying. Students are mostly from villages nearby and some villages are more than 10km away, so there are 60 students sleeping in two old classrooms at night. The school also needs teaching equipment and some facility for physic education such as blackboards, desks and chairs, loudspeakers, bunk beds and ping pong tables, and a library.

湖南省湘西土家族苗族自治州龙山县的坡脚一带,是中国土家族原生态语言的核心区;现在的人口为6000左右,95%以上是土家族原著民,85%以上的原著民以土家语为日常用语。是中国土家族原生态语言保存得最为完好的地区,是中国土家语母语的存留区。目前,土家语已经被列濒危语言;主要分布在中国武陵山区的800多万土家族人口中,能讲土家语的已经不到2%。坡脚一带的6000居民,98%以上是土家族原著民,原著民中90%以上能讲土家语,80%以上的原著民以土家语为日常用语。这里的土家语言使用密度,居中国土家族之最。
我校原是坡脚乡民族中心小学,2005年行政区划调整后,坡脚乡并入相距坡脚14公里毗邻的靛房镇,学校也成为靛房镇片区小学。学校有学前班、一至六年级,每年级有一个班总共有302名学生。学校有13名教师(其中有四名代课教师)任教。学生全部来自周围各个村寨,因为有些村子离学校10多里路,1至六年级都有在学校寄宿的学生。
山峦众多的坡脚,交通欠发展,各种因素阻碍着这里的发展。学校设施简陋,教学楼、学生宿舍楼都是80年代修建的砖瓦木制房顶瓦房,课桌椅也是残破不堪。寄宿学生寝室是80年代修建的老教学楼,现在腾出两间作为寄宿学生的寝室,每逢下雨时有漏水,中间还有裂开的缝隙。学校办公室有一台打印资料的电脑,除了打印资料,这台电脑肩负着每天给学生播放两操(广播体操和眼保健操)。广播系统还是老旧的扩音机加音响,除了学校绿化校园搞得好以外,学校没有像样的设施。如果不是学生生活费充抵开支,学校根本无法维持正常的费用。有时加上学生生活费收益都不够给学校教师发放工资。因为学校有四名代课教师每月代课费,就占了学校办公经费的大半以上,学校没有多余经费,办学条件艰苦。一些偏远村庄交通相对落后的家庭。学生家庭经济收入微薄,来源有限,很多父母都在外打工。有一部分是困难学生、留守儿童和个别单亲家庭,他们其中不乏成绩优秀的学生。
