Innovate Prosthetics:
The Sichuan earthquake of 5/12/2008, all other natural disasters, the wars of Viet Nan, Afghanistan, Iraq and numerous wars in Africa have left numerous people of all ages limbless.
There are millions of dollars being invested in high tech limbs which will cost thousands of dollars, there are NGOs with limited fund custom-making limbs to serve local needs. There are for-profit limb makers who sell a non-functioning leg custom-made in China for $6,000 USD.
Who will take up the challenging task to create a affordable limb, with 80% functionality, fully adjustable, able to mass produce and easy to customize and fit most amputation by a creative street shoe repairer or a trained crafter.
Innovate Prosthetics has a concept for such a limb, we are looking for team members who see the need for it. This project is not funded, so we’re looking for individual industrial designers, 3D animators, owners of 3D modeling machinery, 3D printers, and materials engineers who want to donate their service and receive shares instead of cash, or investors to hire the previously mentioned specialists to achieve this goal.

有人投资百万美元研发耗费上千美元的高科技义肢，有资金紧张的非政府机构为当地人民定制义肢，有盈利义肢制造商以6千美金高价出售功能不全的定制义肢。
谁来接受这一挑战，设计出一个物美价廉的义肢，有着大部分的功能，容易调节，能够大批量生产，经过修鞋匠或是工匠的简易修改后能适用于大部分的断肢。

Innovate Dry Toilet:
Why does innovate want to make dry toilets? There are many western companies manufacturing dry toilets whose prices ranging from a few hundred dollar to several thousand dollars. The west can afford such green luxuries, but the bottom of the economic pyramid can not, and they are the ones who need it the most. Having spent time in rural China, I have realized the need. Squatting in a 20 feet public toilet, with two boards over an open fly-infested hole full of excrement, using toliet papers made of tree branches and scrap plastic and dried brush is to say the least unpleasant, but down right unhealthy.

为什么我们想要制作干式马桶呢？西方国家有很多公司制作价格从几百美元到上千美元不等的干式马桶。西方的民众能够买得起这环保奢侈品，但在经济金字塔底层的人们就不能了，而他们又是最需要的人群。我在中国农村呆过一段时间，我能深切感受到这种需求。在一个6米见方的公共厕所里，蹲在两块木板覆盖的臭气熏天苍蝇成群的粪坑上，使用树枝塑料等做成的粗糙草纸，不说不令人愉悦，至少是不健康的。

Innovate Deaf Services:
I’ve recently read that there are 25 million deaf people here in China, I do not have a exact statistic. Recently I was invited to a deaf and blind special education school by a local NGO, and have become aware of life in China for deaf people, here are some examples: if a child under 5 yrs old discovered to be deaf, they can get government services to fix hearing, but after 5 yrs old, there’ll be no such services; if their parents did not teach you how to speak before your 20 yrs old, there’ll be no services for you to learn to speak.
Why is this a social problem? Discrimination is ruthless to people with disabilities, lost limbs, loss of hearing and blindness. People with disabilities have few options: begging, stealing, relying on family, or cleaning toilets, craft work, ect. all starvation employment. I was shown by a deaf person some news videos of deaf people under arrest for criminal behaviors, it was so shocking. The deaf people of university age group today are studying at special universities, but few can find employment after graduation. Most feel hopeless or suicidal. I believe this situation is common in most developing countries.
Innovate would like to create a team of doctors, researchers, hearing aid manufactures, website developers, speech therapists to develop an website that would enable them learning to speak English and Chinese, eventually multilingual. We’d like to create a basic phonetics course of visual close-up facial movement of sounds that teaches the pronunciation of 1000 basic words used in English and Chinese. Combined with various types of ear plugs, the vibration can be transfered to their skull bones or inner ears so that they don’t need any invasive surgery. Or we’d possibly create a electronic braille system associated with phonetic sounds that can be pumped into their ears or skull bones.

创新聋人服务：
我最近得知中国有2千5百万名人失聪，我没有准确数据。前段时间，一个当地的NGO非政府组织邀请我们去参观成都特殊教育学校，我开始对中国聋人的生活有了更多认识。如果一个五岁以下的孩童失聪，他可以获得政府的听力恢复服务，但五岁以后就不能享受这一服务；如果他的父母在其20岁之前没有教他如果说话，他就没法得到帮助去学习说话。
这为什么是个社会问题呢？残障人士受到了无情的歧视和区别对待。他们的生活选择很少：依靠家人，做手工活，做清洁工，沦为乞丐或者罪犯。有人给我看过聋人罪犯被逮捕的视频，我很震撼。现在一些聋人可以在特殊的大学学习，但很少有人在毕业后能找到工作。他们大多对生活绝望，有自杀倾向。我相信这一现象在大多数发展中国际是普遍存在的。
我们想要集合一队医生，研究员，助听器生产商，网站工程师和言语治疗师来创建一个网站帮助聋人学习说英语和中文，最终学会多种语言。我们想要设计一个基础的语音课程，使用发声时面部运动的特写图片来教授英语和中文中常用的1000个基础词汇。同时有各种各样的耳塞同电脑相连，把声音的振动传入头骨或者内耳中，这样他们就不需要动手术。或者我们也能创造出一套同语音联系起来的电子点字系统，直接传入他们的内耳中。
