hello Edward,family, friends,

hope you had a nice holiday season and that the new year will be happy and fulfilling!!!

yesterday i listen to several of the radio shows on this site, hey just listen to the bad budah radio online raw -funny -inspirational worth a try

I think it great, to strip away the add on to make Buddhism from what budah actually thought. have a listen, I came to this conclusion about buddhism back at assumption college

http://www.badbuddhistradio.com/index.html

they come up on your screen as a white page with a black line give it a minute you’ll start hearing it.

Here in China my holiday were pretty simple, Christmas eve i had a nice dinner of turkey and sweet potatoes mash potatoes cranberry sauce ,the manager of a restaurant i go to regularly, custom made it to order for me, then i went home after a long walk and did research on methane plant for a project a rural school in the mountains, they have 45 kids in 10 bunk beds in a small room of pre school age children , they need a dorm building , they are using class rooms as dorm rooms because the need is so great, the children are mostly migrant workers children who go to cities to find work and leave kids at residential school , some 200 of then are state supported the school get about $1.20 per day to feed them, so they get rice mostly. I’d like to build then a 4,500 sq meter building 48,500 sq foot building. that would include a library, kitchen, dinning hall/reading room, that has central heat and a roof top of 1,500 sq meters green house,
a sewage treatment plant that produces methane to heat the new building and retro fit central heat into existing buildings and for cooking, also want to set up chicken coop and pig pen to add more waste to sewage treatment plant for enough methane production for fuel . the by products of methane plant [algea] is good fertilizer and food for pigs and chickens, the gas from burning methane would be pipe to green house to make plant grow faster. i want to build the building with lite steel frame 3 stories, and use a lite weight cement board that is good insulation fireproof moister proof to make it energy efficient. Now they are heating dorm room with coal burning space heaters vented by temporary stove pipe out a open window. The school is private social enterprise founded about 20 years ago by a 20 yrs old woman who is the head master of school. it has grown to 900 children in a really poor village 500 residential students.
She is doing a good job with what available to her. My plan is to raise most of the fund to build this school with moneys from china.

My new years eve , i went to a free concert of all local chengdu bands play a wide variety of types of music, they were pretty good, at midnite they there were fire works as the band played on. After wards with went for a double shot of black label jonny walker on the rocks and some conversation with the manager of my fave restaurant , then walked home to sleep.

Currently, i’m working on designing /organizing , a 100 sq meter [1076 sq ft] building in cooperation with another non profit for a community center on a property of another social enterprise, that is a residential kinder garden school for migrant families children. I’m using lite weight steel from a distant city in china that has a www.FrameCad.com machine that forms the flat steel into steel studs and automatically design the building with soft ware[ with flood plan], shapes it, pre drill and dimples it, cut holes for electrical and plumbing, labels each piece for easy assembly. i’m going to use the lite weight concrete siding, and put in radiant heat in floor with solar hot water panels to heat it. And LED lighting to reduce electric consumption. Every thing here take a lot of time , the FrameCad system is from new zealand so there engineering calculations are not same as chinese calculations, thru contact i’ve developed i found a chinese engineer who know how to translate it to chines calculations he told it would be done by dec 24, but chinese supplier only sent part of info to my engineer because of fear someone would steal the info, but with out it i can not get it approved by building dept.
now it was sent, the engineer said it would be done on jan 14, but my translator grand father died so he went home for funeral and he is the contact to chinese engineer, it may be in his email but back home he has no internet connection, so i wait.

You may have noticed that my plan to help quake victim in the poor mountain area with
homes has changed significantly,to helping social enterprises, who help local poor. The change was circumstantial to the way govt. works here and social conditions. One is the govt. does not understand why a American would come to help chinese, also if one villager get a free home even the most destitute village then all villager would want one free as well and have riots to make there point. That a problem for govt. they like harmony and all people to be happy.no excuses for people to be discontent. The govt. has done a lot to rebuild homes, school, hospitals in quake area. There are still many people who are falling thru cracks and still living under plastic sheeting.

I have not lost my vision for helping poor get adequate housing,by that i mean home with heat so the can remove there winter outer cloth inside there home and and be comfortable, have flush toilets, running water.

This what I’ve been thinking about to reach my goal of providing adequate housing to rural poor here in china and hopefully in a few year expand it to other countries.

To have my charity in usa Disaster Relief Shelter Foundation,Inc which is 501c3 IRS approved, incorporate a for profit corp in china under rules of ‘’social enterprise” which is in nature a not for profit corp. This would be acceptable form of legalization in china.
Purchase a FrameCad system factory in a container $400,000 usd bring it to china, and product steel frame kits for small home 50 /75/100 sq meter kits for homes, include lite weight concrete siding, windows and door, roofing ect. as a kit complete to build a home. Purchase direct from manufactures for lowest prices by buying bulk quantities.
Bring the complete materials together for a complete home kit, with extra could be added like solar hot water heaters ,LED lighting, solar panels, ect. as add on . Also include all tools to erect the kit homes with the kit.

then sell the kits direct to poor villagers there by reducing the cost by not taking a profit.with complete instruction on how to erect the prefab kit.

Similar to the way Sears and Robucks sold kit home in usa in 1908- 1940.

from http://www.wikihow.com/Identify-a-Sears-Kit-Home

If you think houses built from kits are shoddy, cheap and obvious, think again. Between 1908 and 1940, Sears sold about 70,000 homes in 48 states through their mail-order Modern Homes program, with 370 designs that you might not readily recognize as a kit home. Sears kit homes were shipped via boxcar and came with a 75-page instruction book. Each kit contained 10,000 – 30,000 pieces and the framing members were marked to facilitate construction. Many decades later, those same markings can help identify a home as a Sears kit home. So if you’re wondering if that adorable little bungalow with the big eaves (or even your own house) is a kit home, read on for signs that will help you identify if it is indeed a historically significant Sears kit home.

Main difference would be limited styles of home and sizes only poor would want and at cost or 10-20% to cover over head and make it sustainable, which would be very affordable housing and possibly create a surplus to subsidize home for destitute.

This is my latest crazzy ambition, i feel like Don Quito of Cervantes would you like to be
My Sancho Panza, and help me fund this? i need about $500,000. usd to make it happen.

After the lines were cut by heavy-rain-caused mudslides along the upper reaches of Minjiang River, a tributary of the Yangtze River and a water source for the provincial capital, for more than 24 hours in Chengdu areas, water supply facilities have finally been fixed. Thousands of families in the disaster-hit-province of Sichuan now are able to drink water conveniently.

Sichuan Province, which has been undergoing reconstruction since the devastating earthquake last year, was hit by the downpour lasted from last Tuesday to Friday.

The level of pollution forced three treatment plants in Chengdu that get water from Minjiang River to shut down on Friday afternoon.

It meant supplies were cut to most in the east and west of the city, and only restored around 9 a.m.Sunday, a worker of the Chengdu Waterworks Company, was quoted as saying by Monday’s China Daily.

More than 20 trucks were sent by the firm to collect water from other plants to supply residents.

The upper reaches of Minjiang River are vulnerable to geological disasters, said Fan Xiao, an engineer at Sichuan Geology and Mineral Resource and Exploitation Bureau.

Local authorities are now drawing up new emergency water shortage plans, which will include a measure to take water from Beisha River in Dujiangyan.

Beichuan county, one of the areas worst-hit by the May 12 quake last year, also suffered flooding and mudslides from the storm.

More than 43,600 people from 50 villages were affected, costing the authorities an estimated 100 million yuan (14.6 million U.S. dollars).

Some of the buildings in the zone now regarded as a “Beichuan earthquake relic” and the newly built road to Tangjiashan “quake lake” were also destroyed by the landslides.

Disaster Relief Shelters earned its 501c3 status from the U.S. Government last week. This now allows donations to be listed as tax deductible in accordance with applicable laws for American citizens.

DRS will use PayPal for its donation conduit. In addition to a general appeal for much needed support, DRS asks that you or your organization consider sponsoring a home, dormitory or mutli-family dwelling.

Even after nine months of international aid and assistance there is much to be done. Residents of Sichuan still live in tent cities, share a bathroom with up to 100 other families, lack any viable heat in their homes, have no running water in the current shelters and no cooking facilities…

(Four People per unit share current shelters. DSR plans to build Permanent dwellings for children and families)

(The tents above seen along the river are still serving as dwellings for many of the millions displaced by the earthquake)

Donations may be made using the Chipin connection to the right of this post and inquiries concerning sponsorship of an entire home or dormitory may be made by filling out the form below:

Disaster Relief Shelters Foundation a registered charity in the US. In short: After visiting China during the relocation of families during the Three Rivers Gorge Dam project I witnessed elderly people dying early or slipping into deep depression after being displaced from their ancestral homes. Many elderly and young survivors of the quake are still in dire need of running water, toilet facilities, cooling areas and quake-proof homes.

I started this foundation to give those who will not be properly assisted by rebuilding efforts. Our first modest goal on the anniversary of the catastrophe is to raise enough money to build 12 homes.
